First Look: Beretta Performance Carry Optic Dark Series

Beretta USA originally launched the all-steel-frame Beretta 92X Performance 9mm sporting pistol in 2019. That launch was significant because it offered Beretta 92 shooters a full-steel-frame option as a regular catalog item tather than a special-order or special-edition pistol with a special-edition price tag. Since then, Beretta kept offering other variations of the 92X Performance including the Defensive model for IDPA style competition and a standard optics-ready version with Beretta’s standard optic cut for 92 slides.

Beretta recently launched another miniseries of 92X Performance pistols, this time a trio specifically optimized for USPSA/IPSC Carry Optics divisions. This new 92X Performance trio uses a steel Beretta Vertec frame calibrated to weigh 47.7 ounces for compliance in the Carry Optics division. The Dark Series also replaces the original stainless colored Nistan finish with graphite gray Tinitec finish that enhances corrosion protection and adds durability to the guns’ surfaces. The Beretta Carry Optic Dark Series are available in three different color themes.

Beretta 92X Performance Carry Optics Dark Series Features

  • Aluminum grips with aggressive texture: available in blue, yellow, red and black
  • Reshaped colored trigger; color matching with the selected grips
  • Graphite grey finish
  • DLC-coated firing pin
  • DLC-coated match skeletonized hammer with redesigned geometry for 30-percent less hammer travel
  • Xtreme-S trigger with 40-percent reset reduction
  • Optic-ready slide
  • 18-round magazine
  • One additional configuration available in blue with extended magazine well and magazine pad for a 20-round capacity
  • Match flat rear sight
  • Match 1mm red fiber optic front sight
  • Match disassembly latch
  • Swappable magazine release

“Designed in collaboration with world-class shooters, the 92X Performance Carry Optic Dark Series is engineered to deliver power, speed, and accuracy right out of the box,” said Logan Killam, Beretta USA Sr. Pistol Product Manager. “It complies fully with USPSA Carry Optics Division regulations, ensuring it’s match-ready from day one.”
