Ubisoft has confirmed that it’s remaking arguably the best game in the Rayman franchise, and it will release later this year. During the recent PlayStation State of Play, Ubisoft gave fans the first look at Rayman Legends Retold, including gameplay that showcased the game’s updated visuals and performance. Although the classic Ubisoft platformer series has been dormant for some time, Rayman is finally back with Rayman Legends Retold.
Rayman is already having a big 2026, with Rayman 30th Anniversary Edition launching back in February. Aside from this re-release of the original game, Rayman Legends Retold brings the limbless hero back for an enhanced adventure on modern hardware. Although Rayman himself has been sidelined in favor of his spin-off counterpart, the Rabbids, in recent years, things are about to change as fans will once again get to experience one of the greatest platformers of all time when Rayman Legends Retold launches.
Fans got their first glimpse of Rayman Legends Retold during the June 2 State of Play. During this showcase, Rayman Legends Retold showed the legendary platforming gameplay that made the original release so beloved, now looking cleaner than ever before thanks to current-gen hardware. Additionally, Rayman Legends Retold is confirmed to feature new content, including new story twists, a brand-new realm, and an expanded soundtrack. The game is set to launch on all major platforms on October 1.
Originally released back in 2013, Rayman Legends is a 2D platformer that features co-op for up to four players. Aside from Rayman, playable characters include Globox, Grand Minimus, and Barbara, along with dozens of unlockable alt costumes for these characters. The original also included over 120 playable levels, including several originally from Rayman Origins, which will once again be remastered in Rayman Legends Retold.
