Pro Shop: Making Your Shotgun More Engauging

Compatible with Mossberg 500/590A1 models in 12, 16 and 20 gauge as well as the Maverick Model 88 variants, the Hogue Overmold Stock is designed to re-use the factory-stock bolt with the addition of a flat washer. As its name implies, the stock’s exterior is comprised of the same purchase-enhancing material as the company’s super-popular line of grips by the same name. MSRP: $69.95; hogueinc.com

A dedicated weaponlight that does require the added clutter of an accessory rail, the Nightstick Shotgun Forend Light with Green Laser replaces a factory Mossberg 500/590/Shockwave forearm with one constructed from a one-piece body of heavy-duty, glass-filed nylon with an over-molded rubber grip area. An integral, high-intensity LED, capable of a 1,200-lumen output and a 1.5-hour runtime, is paired with an independent green-laser sight. Forward-mounted buttons along each side of the fore-end’s exterior control momentary- and constant-on modes for ambidextrous use. MSRP: $355; nightstick.com

Manufactured from A36 steel and 6061-T6 billet aluminum, the GG&G Mossberg 590 Flashlight Mount features a 1.75-inch accessory rail that can be oriented forward or rearward for left- or right-hand use. Its steel components have a non-reflective, manganese-phosphate coating, while the alloy parts are Type-III-hardcoat anodized matte black. MSRP: 35.40; gggaz.com

Bringing even greater versatility to your home-defense Mossberg 500/590A1, the Mesa Tactical Sureshell Top Mount Carrier and Rail puts spare ammo at your fingertips and adds optics-mounting capability. Machined from either 6061-T6 aluminum with a Type-III-hardcoat-anodized finish or built from high-impact, lightweight polymer, the mounting bracket affixes to the top of the receiver via the existing screw holes. MSRP: $99.95 to $129.95; mesatactical.com

Available for a variety of Mossberg shotguns, the NDZ Performance Enhanced Safety Selector replaces the factory plastic model with a sturdy, all-aluminum alternative that has a CNC-machined profile. Its enhanced design includes deeper cuts and a raised center that help guide your finger naturally while providing ample purchase and easier engagement. Matching followers are sold separately. MSRP: $10.99 to $14.99; ndzperformance.com
