Magtech 5.56 NATO Ball M193 Recall

Magtech has recalled three lots of its 5.56 NATO Ball M193 centerfire ammunition. Only a few of the firm’s cartridges for that chambering are affected, but in an abundance of safety, owners of any Magtech 5.56 NATO cartridges are encouraged to immediately inspect the boxes their ammo arrived in.

Those with symbol 556A and lot numbers CBC546/24, CBC591/24 and CBC601/24 are included in this safety recall. Owners should immediately discontinue use and remove any cartridges remaining in their gun(s) or magazine(s).

Magtech has determined that the above lots of 5.56 NATO ammunition may contain incorrect powder charges. Incorrect powder charges may cause firearm damage, render it inoperable, and expose the shooter and bystanders to a risk of serious personal injury or death.

The ammunition lot number and symbol are printed on the top flap of the 50-round box, as illustrated above. Owners of cartridges that came from a box or boxes with the symbol “556A” and a lot number of CBC546/24, CBC591/24 or CBC601/24, should immediately discontinue their use. Then, contact Magtech by phoning (763) 235-4000. The company will arrange for the return shipment of your ammunition and, upon receipt, will send replacement ammunition at no cost.

This notice applies only to symbol “556A” with lot number CBC546/24, CBC591/24 or CBC601/24. Other symbols or lot numbers are not subject to this recall.

Enthusiasts who have any questions concerning this 5.56 NATO centerfire ammunition recall—or those unsure whether they possess any ammunition covered by this recall—can phone (763) 235-4000 for more information or for help in determining if their rounds are affected.  Owners can also write to Magtech at 9100 Wyoming Ave N #515, Brooklyn Park, MN, 55445, Attn: Recall. More details are also available on the safety recall’s webpage.

Magtech apologizes for the inconvenience.
