First Look: Steelhead Outdoors Undercover Gun Safe

Steelhead Outdoors has engineered an American-made gun safe solution that fits under beds to keep firearms safely secured, accessible and out of sight. The Undercover 48E features a biometric Securam Scanlogic Lock that has both fingerprint and combination access, ensuring you’ll have access to your gun when you need it. This UL-listed high security lock is paired with dual-hard-plate protection. The safe body and door are built with full 12-gauge American steel with a textured, durable black powdercoat finish. The anti-pry drawer door is recessed to protect the lock dial and improve pry resistance. The Undercover horizontal safe features a drawer with 250-pound-rated ball-bearing drawer slides. The locking mechanism includes a proprietary gear-driven, six-point locking mechanism and slip clutch protection for enhanced security.

The Undercover 48E safe can fit under most beds, with external dimensions of 48 inches wide, 6 inches tall and 16 inches deep. The large drawer can accommodate handguns, rifles as well as other valuables. Internal dimensions are 46 inches wide, 4 inches tall and 13 inches deep, and a protective ⅜-inch foam base protects the stowed items. A cable slot on the right and left side allows for cabling on either side or double cabling for extra security. The slot is compatible with Steelhead’s 3-inch and 6-inch-high security cables. Four matching anchor holes on the Undercover’s top and bottom accommodate top mounting, bottom mounting or stacking. The Undercover can be used in a variety of settings other than under a bed such as under benches, in a mudroom, in closets or built into cabinetry. The heavy-duty construction and high security features make this a great fast access supplement to a large gun safe or the Undercover safe can serve as the main secure storage solution for a couple rifles, shotguns or handguns.

“The Undercover is the only Made-In-USA underbed safe with a high security, UL listed lock. We wanted to make a premium drawer safe that uses the same secure and reliable locking systems as high-end gun safes,” explained Steelhead Outdoors co-founder Corey Meyer. “With our Undercover safe, gun owners can stow their firearms where they are close at hand during the night. Although it was designed to be placed conveniently under a bed, the Undercover also works well in other areas of a home, in an RV or vehicle.”

MSRP for the Steelhead Undercover is $1,300 with free shipping to the lower 48 states. More information on this gun storage solution as well as other products from Steelhead Outdoors is available at steelheadoutdoors.com.
