First Look: Smith & Wesson Model 1854TM Walnut Stock

Smith & Wesson continues to broaden the Model 1854 Series lever-action rifle and carbine series. Now Smith & Wesson customers can now purchase Model 1854 rifles in the timeless .30-30 Win. chambering. The latest addition to the lineup is a Model 1854 lever action rifle with a walnut furniture set.

The Smith & Wesson Model 1854 lever-action carbine series pairs a modern lever-action design with a forged receiver finished in black Melonite and appointed with traditional walnut furniture, which helps nails some classic lever-action aesthetics.

As modern lever actions, all Model 1854 rifles feature an enclosed solid-top receiver with right-side ejection and a right-side tubular magazine loading gate. The closed receiver design makes the 1854 well-suited for mounting modern optics or using metallic ghost-ring sights with an extended sight radius. Every 1854 rifle is optics-ready and ships with a pre-installed Picatinny scope base plus a pair of XS Sights ghost-ring rear sights and a gold-bead front sight.
