First Look: Savage Arms RXR22 Rifle

Savage Arms has unveiled the new RXR22, a .22LR semi-automatic rifle built for versatility and customization. The RXR22 is suitable for plinking, target shooting as well as to small-game hunting and competition.

“The new RXR is built for shooters who demand more than just accuracy. They want a platform that adapts to their style, discipline and ambition,” said RJ Contorno, Savage Arms Senior Product Manager. “This rifle offers unmatched versatility and customization straight out of the box. Whether you’re dialing in for competition or building your ideal training rig, this is the rimfire that grows with you.”

The RXR22 features a reliable blowback semi-automatic operation and a rugged polymer receiver with an integrated Picatinny top rail for mounting an optic. Its 16.5-inch, precision button-rifled barrel includes a recessed target crown and a threaded muzzle (½x28 tpi) for suppressor attachment. The rifle comes equipped with a 10-round rotary magazine that offers a last-round bolt-hold-open feature.

The RXR22 is compatible with aftermarket Ruger 10/22 magazines, triggers and barrels, allowing it to be customized in any number of ways. The rifle also includes a quick-release trigger group, metal sling studs and a Picatinny accessory rail at the end fore-end for mounting accessories such as lights, lasers or bipods. The synthetic stock has a vertical pistol grip with interchangeable grip inserts for better ergonomics, and there is a cleaning at the rear of the receiver for easier maintenance.
