Glock officially launched its 6th Generation of pistols engineered to offer enhanced ergonomics for increased usability and comfort with a novel optic-ready system. The first models produced are the G17 Gen6, G19 Gen6 and G45 Gen6, all of which are chambered in 9mm.
Glock maintains this sixth Generation of pistols has been engineered specifically with the shooter in mind. Each upgrade has been selected with the end-user in mind, delivering enhancements designed to feel intuitive. The Gen6 line was designed to offer purpose-driven ergonomics with a refined optic-ready system.
“For nearly four decades, the pursuit of perfection has guided Glock in focusing on what truly matters: safety, reliability and our commitment to our customers. The Gen6 pistol line continues that commitment. We’re not chasing trends. We’re moving forward thoughtfully, with the same uncompromising standards that define every Glock product.“ stated Carlos Guevara, Glock CEO.
Glock Gen6 pistols have been redesigned to offer key ergonomic advancements, a flat-face trigger design and a new Gen6 optic-ready mounting system into a platform engineered with purpose. The molded frame with palm swell, extended thumb rest and enlarged beavertail are designed to create an intuitive grip that locks in the shooter’s strong hand. Grip texture combines two different textures into one to create a mixture of performance and comfort across a larger percentage of surface area. Slide serrations are angled deeper into the slide to make the surface engagement more tactile for administrative manipulations.
The flat-face trigger design comes standard in all Glock Gen6 pistols and maintains Glock’s proprietary Safe Action System for safety and reliability. An undercut trigger guard and concomitant reduced distance from the frame to the trigger allows for a high grip on the frame along with an easier reach for a variety of users.
Standard-frame Glock Gen6 pistols come optic-ready with three optic plates that allow various optics to be screwed directly into the slide. The new system is engineered for adaptability and durability.
The Gen6 design represents an evolution of the Glock handgun platform, prioritizing user performance and ergonomics while maintaining Glock’s reliability. Glock Gen6 pistols will be available in stores January 20th, 2026.
