First Look: Glock A-Cut XS R3D 2.0 Night Sights

XS Sights has recently launched a version of the R3D 2.0 night sights to fit Glock pistol slides that are machined at the factory with the Aimpoint A-Cut optics mount footprint.

XS Sights R3D 2.0 night sights are low profile and easy-to-see carry sights. The R3D 2.0 front sight includes a large tritium vial surrounded by a wide, eye-catching photoluminescent green or orange glow dot. Rear sights have two smaller tritium vials for use in low light. In addition to this, R3D 2.0 rear sights use a wide square rear notch with a serrated face, a format proven to work well on defensive or duty carry guns. XS Sights offers its R3D 2.0 series to fit a wide variety of modern makes and models of handguns.

“We designed this R3D 2.0 rear to be slightly longer than the factory sight to minimize the area between the iron sight and optic lens—a space which tends to collect dirt and debris,” said Jeff King, Marketing Manager, XS Sights. “We also made the sides of our rear sight flush with the Glock slide to reduce snag potential while providing a cleaner, more streamlined look.”

The Aimpoint A-Cut optics-mounting footprint and its corresponding enclosed-emitter COA red-dot sight are two distinctive products launched in 2025. The sight and mounting system approach the complicated issue of direct-to-handgun-slide mounting by a novel and clean-sheet design. Instead of using any of the previously existing mounting standards, the new Aimpoint A-Cut footprint has a recessed wedge and a chamfered ridge that runs longitudinally on the slide. The Aimpoint COA red-dot sight has a profile which matches this. The front of the COA has a ledge that allows the unit to lock into the A-Cut’s recessed wedge, like a ski boot. The design also does away with the typical mounting screws. It relies on two screws on the back which are integrated into the rear-sight unit. Through the end of 2025, Glock is the only company producing A-Cut and COA compatible models which come with plain black metallic sights, creating an opportunity for XS Sights to make a compatible R3D 2.0 iron sight set.
