The Eley Ultra Gen2 is full of features to aid rimfire precision and match shooters make those longer-distance shots.
While “long range” is a relative term in the world of rimfire rifle, the new Eley Ultra Gen2 .22 LR round is designed for precision-rimfire rifle shooting beyond 100 yards. At this distance, standard .22 LR bullets start to lose power and accuracy. Typically, the heeled-bullet profile and poor ballistic coefficient of most .22 LR rounds, along with slowing velocities at those ranges can make keeping precision beyond 100 yards quite a challenge. There are wind and other environmental factors to contend with at those distances. Eley developed this round to meet the rising demands of disciplines such as Precision Rimfire Series .22LR, Rimfire Benchrest, Field Target Shooting, Steel Challenge, NRL22 and NRL22X leagues. Eley has done so by combing over every detail and aspect of the Ultra Gen2 cartridge, from the precision-cut case mouth that accommodates the heeled bullet to its magazine-friendly ogive and EP2723 lubricant.
