First Look: Derya Melik Gold Pistol

Derya has just announced the launch of its new Turkish-made Melik Gold 9mm pistol, a full-size pistol based on the classic locking–block Beretta 92 design. Like the original Beretta 92, the new Derya Melik Gold 9mm pistol includes a locking-block action, but also the traditional Beretta-pattern open-top slide. Unlike a regular Beretta or similar clones, this model has an eye-catching, nickel-plated surface finish along with trove gold polished PVC accent pieces including the barrel, rear sight, takedown lever, trigger, decocker/safety and magazine catch.

“We are honored to unveil the Melik Gold 9mm, a testament to Derya’s dedication to artistry and innovation,” said Dustin Jones. “This variant is more than a pistol—it’s a symbol of elegance and a heritage of unparalleled craftsmanship.”

Although the Derya’s locking-block action was made famous by Beretta, it has roots in the German-made Walther P38 double-action semi-automatic pistol from the Second World War era. The design allows for the pistol’s barrel to stay straight and level, as it doesn’t need to tilt into place as the locking block handles that function. The result is an open-top slide which aids in reliability, especially with ejecting spent cases.
