First Look: Auto-Ordnance Lightweight Deluxe Thompson

Auto-Ordnance is rolling out its latest Thompson semi-automatic rifle. This new .45 ACP firearm pays homage to its namesake, which was one of America’s most-renowned military submachine guns.

The new Auto-Ordnance Lightweight Deluxe Thompson rifles preserve the authentic look and feel that made its predecessor a legend. Notable features include the classic cooling fins, a top charging handle, the distinctive vertical front grip, and the effective Cutts compensator. A significant innovation comes with the introduction of new polymer-furniture models. These versions feature a lightweight frame precision-milled from durable aluminum. The furniture itself is built from a highly resilient polymer, finished with a beautiful wood grain that captures the appeal of traditional walnut but still offers far greater durability and weather resistance.

“We are incredibly proud to bring this blend of history and modern manufacturing to Tommy Gun fans,” said director of marketing Jodi DePorter. “The Thompson is more than just a rifle; it’s a piece of American history. With the new aluminum receiver and polymer furniture, we’ve been able to reduce the weight by approximately 5 pounds compared to the traditional steel and wood models, making it more accessible and comfortable to shoot without sacrificing the classic Thompson appearance.”

All three new lightweight Thompson models are equipped with a TM1-style rear sight and have a variety of magazine options, including a 20-round stick, as well as 50-round and 100-round drum magazines. The barrel length for all three models is 18 inches. MSRP for these new lightweight Thompson rifles varies from $1,558 to $2,140. More information on these guns as well as other firearms from Auto-Ordnance is available at auto-ordnance.com.
