Armasight Expands Operations and Manufacturing Capabilities

Armasight, which specializes in thermal and night-vision technology, has expanded the footprint of its manufacturing and service operations. The company—headquartered in Northbrook, IL, with manufacturing facilities in Tempe, AZ—recently added more than 10,000 square feet to increase its in-house machining and testing capabilities. A 25-percent boost in production resulted from the upgrade.

The added space and new cutting-edge equipment are part of Armasight’s commitment to deliver faster lead times, greater manufacturing precision and enhanced product reliability. The expanded machine shop now includes two live-tool CNC lathes with bar feeders, three vertical milling machines with fourth-axis capability and a full complement of manual machining equipment.

To ensure the highest standards of durability and accuracy, the firm also added advanced tools for product testing and development. They include an environmental temperature chamber for performance testing across extreme thermal conditions and 3D rapid-prototyping systems capable of printing in multiple engineering-grade plastics. A coordinate measuring machine was also acquired to provide critical-dimension inspection of precision-machined components.

“By investing in these capabilities, we’re reinforcing what Armasight has always stood for, which is uncompromising performance, reliability and support for professionals who depend on their gear,” said Steve Lemenov, Armasight senior director of marketing. “This expansion allows us to respond faster to customer demand while maintaining the tight quality control that defines our products.”

Armasight was established in 2011. Driven initially by the knowledge of Dmitry Rocklin, who brought more than three decades of no-light-optics expertise to the operation, the company quickly gained an enviable reputation for performance products. Its thermal and night-vision optics are designed and manufactured in the United States and its dedication to enthusiasts shows in its offerings. Earlier this year, for example, it introduced the versatile Operator 640 Thermal Optic, capable of transforming any 1-6X riflescope into a thermal platform.
