The Army has several education support programs that can help you go to college. Learn more.

Like the other military branches, the Army offers its members opportunities to get a college education. These programs are generally referred to as voluntary education or “vol ed.” The Army Continuing Education System (ACES) offers many education programs for lifelong learning.

ACES offers the following programs to help soldiers reach their education goals:

Army Tuition Assistance

If you are on Active Duty or in the Army Reserve, you may be eligible to receive up to 100% of your college tuition. Learn more about the Army Tuition Assistance Program.

ArmyIgnitED

With over 300,000 college and credentialing courses available from over 2,000 colleges and universities, ArmyIgnitED is a program that lets soldiers reach their individual educational goals either online, on base or off base. It is a one-stop shop that allows soldiers to tailor their educational journey for their military or civilian goals. It provides you:

  • 100% tuition assistance (TA), up to $4,500 annually
  • Books and study materials
  • Fees for online courses

This program is entirely online, offering soldiers a streamlined “portal” approach to a wide variety of post-secondary degrees and technical certificates.

The program offers an online Decision Support Tool (DST) that lets soldiers explore degree and credentialing opportunities and choose the program that is right for them.
