Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has confirmed its open beta dates, revealing two weekends of early playtests, with an early access beta that will run from August 21 to 25, while the open beta is from August 28 to September 1. Infinity Ward has also teased what fans can expect from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4‘s beta, including new and returning game modes.
The next entry in the Modern Warfare series, scheduled for launch on October 23, has already become one of the most anticipated games of fall 2026. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has been steadily releasing trailers and deeper looks at its gameplay, including the revival of DMZ mode, which has not been present in the series since Modern Warfare 2. Now, Infinity Ward has officially announced when players can first test some of the upcoming game’s features through its open beta.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 will host two beta weekend events. First, an early access beta will be held from August 21 to 25 and will be exclusive to players who have pre-ordered the game on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Then, the open beta will run from August 28 to September 1, available to all players regardless of whether they placed a pre-order. The open beta weekend will be available on all previously mentioned platforms, as well as Nintendo Switch 2. According to Infinity Ward, the beta will let players test various multiplayer maps and modes, including Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4‘s brand-new Kill Block mode. It will also feature Search & Destroy and the Training Mobility Course, along with new Operators and 19 different weapons.
Fans who have pre-ordered the Vault Edition can also play as Operators Price, Valeria, Ghost, and Blix in the beta’s multiplayer portion, as well as other signature weapon benefits. The developers shared that players can expect more information about beta rewards and exact schedules in the upcoming weeks. It is worth noting that the beta event will require an internet connection, and Nintendo Switch 2 players will need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to participate. Infinity Ward has also confirmed a Call of Duty: NEXT livestream event on August 21, which will reveal more of Modern Warfare 4‘s multiplayer ahead of the beta.
