A seventh suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of Marine Corps veteran Michael Garcia.
Garcia, 41, was killed in crossfire during an alleged multi-generational drug feud which took place in April in Houston, Texas. Police arrested six people at the time in connection with the death and identified Byron “BB” Dubose, 24, as a suspect earlier this year, circulating his photo on April 30.
Police arrested out-of-state fugitive Byron Dubose, 24, a week ago in connection with the murder. He was arrested in Houston by U.S. Marshals and Harris County law enforcement, according to the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD). DuBose, named the last of seven suspects in the investigation, faces charges of second-degree murder, felon in possession of a firearm and obstruction of justice.
An Orleans Parish grand jury indicted five suspects, including DuBose, in June on charges including second-degree murder and obstruction of justice. The other suspects arrested are Caron Fortenberry, Mi’Janae Ingram, Bennalynn Ingram and Joshua Emery, according to local CBS affiliate 4WWL.

How Did Michael Garcia Die?
Garcia’s death happened when officers responded to North Claiborne Avenue and Desire Street, to investigate a report of gunfire and a car crash around 5 p.m. on April 7.
Witnesses said there had been a shootout between two vehicles. One man tried to flee the scene after being shot at and collided with Garcia’s car. Police said Garcia was not connected to the suspects.
When they arrived, they discovered Garcia—who had been driving to visit his girlfriend, Sam Hart, she said—suffered a gunshot wound to the head.
Paramedics transported him to University Medical Center in New Orleans, but the veteran died about an hour later.
“An uninvolved driver, Mr. Michael Garcia, was struck by that gunfire while traveling through the area,” NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick told Fox News at the time.
“He later died,” she added. “He served our country as a Marine, and we are so sorry to his family. Our hearts go out to his family and friends.”
Police found 60 shell casings from four firearms at the scene, nola.com reported.
Kirkpatrick said Garcia was “in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Previous Arrests in Garcia Case
Dubose’s arrest follows the previous work of law enforcers in connection with the incident.
Police in New Orleans arrested Terrence Leavell, 48, in connection with the crime in April, charging him with manslaughter and gun charges. A convicted felon, Leavell is not legally allowed to possess a gun.
He told police that people had fired guns at his nephew and he fired back to protect him.
The other six individuals police arrested were Leavell’s nephew, Alshawn “Osama” Watts, 21; Bennalynn Ingram, 39, and her daughter Mi’janae Ingram, 20; and Joshua “Money” Emery, 33, and Caron “Rondo” Fortenberry, 25.
In June, Orleans Parish Criminal District Court Judge Kimya Holmes set seven-figure bonds for Fortenberry and Bennalynn and Mi’janae Ingram, and ordered that Emery be held without bail.
