Capcom May Have Just Confirmed the Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake By Accident

Capcom May Have Just Confirmed the Resident Evil Code: Veronica Remake By Accident

Capcom may have accidentally confirmed that a Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake is going to be announced soon, likely during the Summer Game Fest. While the confirmation isn’t explicit, it follows a pattern of what Capcom has done prior to other Resident Evil game reveals.

Fans of the Resident Evil franchise have been asking for a Code: Veronica remake for a very long time now, especially following the release of the other Resident Evil remakes. So far, Resident Evil 2, 3, and 4 have all received state-of-the-art RE Engine remakes, but Code: Veronica has been strangely absent from that list. Recent activity may indicate that fans are about to get what they’re hoping for, however.

Major Resident Evil Discount Hints at Remake Announcement

The Resident Evil franchise is currently having a major sale across all platforms, including PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. This is something that Capcom commonly does just before a major reveal of a new game in the franchise. As pointed out by reputable leaker Dusk Golem, the Resident Evil 4 remake in particular has an extremely steep discount, currently sitting at 75% off at $9.99. This is the lowest price it’s ever been offered for, and Resident Evil 4 was the last remake game of the series to launch. The theory suggests that Capcom may be offering this particularly steep RE 4 remake discount, which began on PC just a day prior to the Summer Game Fest, to build hype for Resident Evil Code: Veronica finally getting its remake. The same leaker previously stated that Code: Veronica would be announced in 2026.

Capcom has been on a roll lately with the Resident Evil franchise, so it would make some sense to announce a new game now. Most eager fans of the franchise have likely finished Resident Evil Requiem at this point, so it won’t take much attention from the latest brand-new game in the series. For a period of time between 2019-2023, Resident Evil was getting at least one new game per year, starting out with the Resident Evil 2 remake. That was followed by the RE 3 remake, spin-off Resident Evil: Resistance, Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil RE: Verse, and the RE 4 remake closing out the streak. With Resident Evil Requiem launching in 2026, it’s possible that a new streak could begin, with RE Code: Veronica potentially following it.
