A LEGO fan took to social media to show off an impressive build of a Big Daddy from the BioShock series, which they made following a MOC from another builder. The LEGO BioShock creator also made a mini-figure of Jack, the main protagonist from the first game, to go alongside the Big Daddy figure they created.
In short, a MOC build stands for “My Own Creation,” a term for LEGO builds made without following a specific blueprint or plan. MOC builds allow LEGO fans to craft some builds using pieces from multiple sets and putting them together to create a location or a character that may or may not already have a kit. For example, a LEGO fan created an endoskeleton bust of the T-800 from the Terminator franchise using several components from different LEGO kits. Although officially licensed sets have been one of LEGO’s main selling points, the creativity of fans has allowed MOC builds to thrive.
BioShock Fan Shares Amazing Big Daddy LEGO MOC Build
While BioShock fans have made their own creative tributes to Big Daddy over the years, one fan chose to make a LEGO build of the franchise’s iconic enemy. On the LEGO and BioShock subreddits, a Redditor named SgtBlackDeer shared a MOC build of a Bouncer Big Daddy that they made using a mixture of brown, gray, gold, and red parts. SgtBlackDeer stated that they took the Big Daddy design from a content creator named FinCantBuild and modified the head to be a bit rounder by comparison. The Bouncer Big Daddy had a drill for its right hand, with several gray, brown, and gold pieces that formed its arms and legs. The Big Daddy’s cage was made using some gold hoses, with smaller parts in place of the lights on its helmet. On the back, Big Daddy had two grey oxygen tanks, with a red valve on top of one of them.
The Big Daddy was a constant presence throughout the first two BioShock games, often accompanied by a Little Sister that they are dependent on. Big Daddies are extremely protective of the Little Sisters that they share a bond with, and will become aggressive should any potential threats approach them. The most common variant of Big Daddy is the Bouncer, complete with a drill that can bore through most materials. Although the Big Daddies are an iconic figure in the BioShock series, they did not appear in 2017’s BioShock Infinite.
