HENDERSON, NV — A 33-year-old man shot and killed an armed robber who attempted to hold him at gunpoint in a predawn incident on September 21, 2024. The confrontation occurred around 3:57 a.m. in the 1000 block of Wellness Place, prompting a swift response from the Henderson Police and Fire Departments.
According to initial reports, the suspect approached the victim with a firearm in a threatening manner, demanding his cellphone and wallet. The shooter, who remained on-site and cooperated fully with the police investigation, was unharmed. Detectives are treating the incident as a homicide, but further details are pending the ongoing investigation. The Clark County Coroner’s Office will release the suspect’s identity and official cause of death after notifying the next of kin. No other individuals were injured in the incident.
This marks the sixth homicide investigation in Henderson in 2024. Authorities urge anyone with information to contact the Henderson Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
When an assailant already has a firearm drawn and pointed at you, the risk of “drawing from the drop” is extremely high. Even the fastest draw can’t beat the speed of a trigger pull. In this case, the defender seemingly recognized such a moment, acting decisively to protect his life. While extremely dangerous, timing and situational awareness are critical when faced with an imminent threat.
