The emotional divorce between the Dallas Mavericks and Luka Doncic in February has left the 26-year-old NBA star heartbroken. It also has left him with a shattered cell phone.

In a recent interview with ESPN, Doncic revealed his emotions about the shocking blockbuster trade that sent him to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a future first-round pick.

The Lakers walked away the clear winners of that deal, but for Doncic, it was an emotional exit. One that left him with a shattered heart, and phone.

“Sadness, mostly. I was still in shock, like crazy shock. I felt like my heart was broken, honestly,” Doncic said in the interview. He revealed that he was in bed when he first learned of the news. His first reaction? Throwing his phone.

“It still works,” Doncic said with a smile as he revealed the damage to his phone.

Donici spent the first 6.5 years of his career in Dallas. When asked if that’s where he had hoped to finish it, he responded, “Of course, it’s an easy question.”

Doncic has thrived with the Lakers, meanwhile Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison has become public enemy No. 1. According to Doncic, he has not spoken to Harrison since the trade, including the night he learned of it.

MAVERICKS GM NICO HARRISON DOUBLES DOWN ON LUKA DONCIC TRADE AS FANS CALL FOR FIRING: ‘NO REGRETS’

Earlier this week, Harrison spoke to media members alongside Mavericks CEO Rick Welts behind closed doors, where only Dallas-based reporters were present to ask questions. Harrison said that he had “no regrets” over the trade.

“There’s no regrets on the trade,” he said, via ESPN. “Part of my job is to do the best thing for the Mavericks, not only today, but also in the future, and some of the decisions I’m going to make are going to be unpopular.

“That’s my job, and I have to stand by it.”

For Doncic, the commentary from Harrison since the trade has added salt to the wound.

“It’s just sad the way he’s talking right now,” he told ESPN. “I never say anything bad about him, and I just want to move on. The fans, my ex-teammates, I’ll always keep at heart. It’s time for me to move on from there.”

The focus now remains on basketball and the playoffs. The Lakers host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Saturday night in Game 1 of their Western Conference first-round match-up.
