While Civivi and We Knife Co. brands tend to get the most time in the limelight, We’s third label, the budget-conscious Sencut, has been gaining steam and has some new releases out now – including a mid-sized working knife called the Regnator.
The dollar-to-performance ratio for entry-level pieces has shifted considerably over the last ten years. Features that used to be seen exclusively on high-end pieces have filtered down to models that cost a fraction of the price. Case in point, the ceramic ball-bearing flipper blade on the Regnator.

The action should satisfy even hardcore knife snobs and, with a 3.48-inch drop point blade fashioned in Sencut’s line-standard 9Cr18MoV. This steel is on a parity with 440B, which means that the edge retention will not be up to the standards of the trendier, more advanced formulae, but it is very easy to sharpen and unlikely to struggle at all with rust or corrosion. In the Regnator’s case, these characteristics are amenable to both the “large EDC” and “work knife” roles it seems destined to fill.
There’s nothing pronounced or strange going on with the Regnator’s handle, but the handle scales are made from layered G-10 in two different colors. It adds some character to the overall design, tying together the very modern, very We Knife Co. aesthetic here. The Regnator, in any configuration, weighs 3.58 oz. and comes with a liner lock.
It is also available now.
