Anyone on the hunt for something a little bit hard use, a little bit tactical, and all premium, should check out the new We Knife Co. Sylox. This large flipper brings all the traditional high-end stuff to the table alongside some design/material surprises.
3.8 inches is a lot of blade length when it comes to a folder. There are definitely monstrosities that cross the 4- and even 5-inch boundary, but those are, by and large, uncommon; most heavy duty folding knives will top out right around where the Sylox does. All that being said, the very clean, very We-like design softens the Sylox’s character to an extent, and it could function as a straightforward EDC for anybody with a penchant for large blades.

The cutting edge is worth dwelling on for more than its size because it is the latest in the great We in-house tradition of creatively appointed blades. There’s a compound grind to strengthen the tip, alongside a swedge, and a fuller, and thick spinal jimping sitting in its own separate, chamfered sub-swedge. The steel is a familiar face, however: good old M390 stainless.
The handle is your standard (in a good way) titanium number, with three triangular inlays on each scale. These scales are symmetrical because the Sylox is a button lock, not a frame lock; and if you’re feeling particularly fancy, on top of a slew of carbon fiber inlay choices, there’s an option for mother of pearl inlays instead!
The Sylox is available now.
