Anyone who liked Brian Brown’s sleek and tactically-inflected tanto folder, the Trogon, but wanted it in a smaller footprint will be pleased to know that Brown and We have delivered the perfect solution, the Micro Trogon.
This is one of those cases where the child is more or less an exact replica of the parent knife, just smaller. The Micro Trogon’s blade is 2.68 inches long – not flamboyantly micro by any means, but significantly smaller than the original model, which touts a 3.2-inch blade. The blade shape is a spear point/tanto crossover, spiced up even further with a compound grind that puts some additional meat behind the tip and secondary edge regions. This particular blade aesthetic is the most direct evidence of Brown’s own aesthetic: in this and other designs he favors rich, barrel-aged, bold blade profiles like we have here.

It’s a heavy duty blade shape so, even in this smaller iteration, the Micro can field an expanded suite of tasks, particularly excelling at those that require piercing through materials thanks to that bulked up front end. We Knife gold standard M390 is on tap for the steel, so edge retention in tasks of any caliber will be right where it should be for a knife in this price range.
Brown’s super clean handle is present and accounted for too: nice, restrained linework and very fine diagonal hatching milled into the titanium slab scales for added grip. The pocket clip is made from sculpted titanium, and, just like the knife it’s attached to, it’s robust enough to withstand the trials and tribulations of daily carry. The Micro Trogon weighs 2.89 oz. It’s available now.
